“UPLIFTING HEROES, PROVIDING PURPOSE”
You have arrived at the peer support page for The Warfighter Mission. As a nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to serving those who serve us—active duty military, veterans, first responders, and their families. We offer camaraderie and compassion, and we work hard to shine a light on the path to healing.
The Warfighter Mission’s Peer Support Program is led by President Brandon Cabalar, a combat veteran of the US Army who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Under his leadership, we follow a simple mission: We help those who have helped us. President Cabalar is a strong believer in peer support and the principles of service, solidarity, and faith that guide our organization and the comrades we support along their journey. At The Warfighter Mission, we serve without judgment and without asking for anything in return.
Our Values
At The Warfighters Mission, we extract our values from military service and the teachings of God. We look to the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15:4-7 for inspiration. In that passage, Jesus speaks of going to great lengths to ensure the safety of even one wayward soul. We are not "Jesus," but we honor the intent of that mission and do our best to live out that commitment. Our peer support programs serve as a very rough guide through the complicated (and sometimes treacherous) terrain of service-related trauma, transitions, and challenges of family life that can occur, intensify, or extend our military service.
Peer Support
Our peer support groups for veterans and first responders are led by experienced facilitators who have served in the military and emergency services. In the support groups, we create a safe environment for you to share your story, find peace in the experiences you've had, and build a relationship with us. We were there. We know what it feels like to have your world turned upside down during and after service. We also know that by opening up, you are allowing the first step in your journey back to being you again. Whether we lead you in a prayer for mental health, watch over you while you pray, or let you pass around the talking stick, we promise to walk the next part of your journey with you.
Join Us
The Warfighters Mission welcomes with open arms anyone who serves or has served our country—soldiers on the front lines, veterans adjusting to civilian life, first responders coping with their burdens of duty and family members dealing with secondary PTSD due to their loved ones struggles. We can find strength together; unity is our watchword. You do not walk this path alone. As we honor and support our nation's heroes, male and female, past and present, we embrace you in the community of healing. God is good; this is a good mission.
